INTRODUCTION :
HANDISPOC
A newly established sports and cultural association, focuses its main efforts on raising awareness among the population and youth, promoting parasports, education, and the empowerment of people with disabilities in France, particularly in Échirolles, and wherever else there is a need. One of our goals is also to create a center for people with disabilities in Cameroon. Social inclusion is a crucial factor for people with disabilities. In this inclusive approach, people with disabilities should find appropriate support to ensure their full participation in associative, sports, and cultural life. We will also rely on cultural diversity as a key aspect.
HANDISPOC is committed to raising awareness in schools, colleges, high schools, universities, and businesses about the importance of social inclusion, fostering an open spirit in an inclusive society. We aim to make "handivalide" a widely accessible idea within an associative vision of exchange, meeting, and personal development. We will rely on the pooling of experiences and resources and the interactivity of actors at the municipal, departmental, regional, national, and potentially international levels.
Pedagogically, to implement our action plan, we will call upon various voluntary and dedicated stakeholders involved in this process (experts, associations with extensive experience in the field, etc.) who will support us in our outreach to this target audience. Inclusion is the process by which people with disabilities are encouraged to participate in social life. Within an association, this involves a broad consideration of accessibility (structure, activity, environment, funding, support, etc.), as well as the quality of reception and support offered to people with disabilities. This support will also include a workshop for recycling wheelchairs by both disabled and able-bodied individuals.
For HANDISPOC, the inclusion project inevitably involves the integration of diverse groups, meaning a "handivalide" practice. The underlying goals of this associative participation are discovering other groups, sharing, social bonding, health, and improving daily and professional life activities. Regarding health, we will also raise awareness about STDs and STIs to try to protect our youth from associated risks, with a particular focus on Africa and Cameroon, where we will also conduct our activities.
As we continue to develop our project, we will provide more detailed explanations and clarify certain terms, and we will try to enumerate some common disabilities.
DEFINITIONS OF TERMS
The law of February 11, 2005, introduces a new approach to disability by distinguishing it from impairment and incapacity. Understanding these concepts helps to change the way everyone views disability. It is not the illness itself that is a disability, but its consequences and effects on the lives of individuals
Ourmission statement
The mission behind HANDISPOC centers on promoting inclusion and empowering people with disabilities. Our goal is to foster a society where individuals with disabilities are not only accepted but also have the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully. Through various initiatives, including awareness campaigns, sports and cultural activities, and professional training programs, we strive to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a more inclusive environment. By empowering people with disabilities to realize their full potential and advocating for their rights, HANDISPOC is committed to building a more inclusive and equitable world for everyone.
Refers to any limitation in activity or restriction in participation in societal life experienced by an individual due to a substantial, lasting, or permanent alteration of one or more physical, sensory, mental, cognitive, or psychological functions, a multiple disability, or a disabling health condition.
Refers to the reduction in the ability to perform tasks within normal limits. For example, the inability to read or grasp an object whose location is not visible. To summarize these three terms: Disability is the disadvantage that results from impairment and incapacity. For example, difficulty in participating in social life and loss of autonomy in daily activities.
Refers to the alteration of a physiological, psychological, or anatomical function or structure. For example, damage to the optic nerve resulting in sensory impairment.
Beyond a simple information campaign or classroom presentation, an awareness initiative aims to communicate a impactful and clear message that remains anchored in memory, fosters awareness, and promotes behavior change.
Cultural
The cultural domain defies universal definition. Generally, it encompasses all activities related to creation, production, distribution, and consumption in fields such as music, theatre, dance, visual arts, as well as radio and television programs. According to UNESCO, culture, in its broadest sense, encompasses all distinctive spiritual and material, intellectual and emotional traits that characterize a society or social group. It includes not only arts and letters but also lifestyles, fundamental human rights, value systems, traditions, and beliefs.
STD: Sexually Transmitted Disease. STI: Sexually Transmitted Infection.
ORIGINES
Communicating a Positive Vision of Disability: Recognized as a charity, HANDISPOC is an association founded in July 2019. Our goal is to support and raise awareness among people with disabilities through sports and cultural activities, while promoting cultural exchanges and awareness about STDs and employment for disabled individuals. The name "Handispoc" originates from a play on words combining "Handi" for handicap, "Spo" for sport, and "C" for culture. Handispoc thus represents the union of disability, sports, and culture. It is an association that brings together various sports activities, cultural groups, and grassroots initiatives. We operate in schools, high schools, colleges, universities, and businesses by conducting awareness campaigns on disability and prevention of risky behaviors. Our founder, Atangana Frédéric Conrat, emphasizes: "Handispoc is not a psychological support unit for the disabled; our mission is not to evoke pity towards disabled individuals. On the contrary, we aim to empower them as agents of change and role models of positivity." Indeed, HANDISPOC is committed to turning disability into a true strength.

BUILDING A MULTIFUNCTIONAL CENTER FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN CAMEROON.
Currently in Cameroon, there are fewer than four (04) centers across the entire territory capable of providing vocational training to people with disabilities, along with well-equipped dormitories. Given the increasing demand for training centers for people with disabilities, the association HANDISPOC plans to establish a training center for youth with disabilities. In addition to supporting families and promoting the sports and cultural activities of people with disabilities, HANDISPOC recognizes that employment contributes to their well-being. Therefore, it plans to open specialized workshops in Cameroon where only people with disabilities will be employed. However, a segment of people with disabilities will be excluded from these workshops due to lack of training and vocational guidance. To address this gap, HANDISPOC plans to establish a training center for people with disabilities. This innovative center will enable around twenty individuals with disabilities to enhance their individual skills and capabilities. Several training programs will be offered, including a workshop for shoe manufacturing and repair, an orthopedic appliance workshop, a computer workshop, a welding and glazing workshop, and a livestock workshop. The goal for these individuals will be to integrate into a workplace upon completing these trainings. To construct this center, we will need to acquire several hectares of land, build workshops, dormitories, offices, and equip them accordingly.
CONCLUSION
Our associative project is designed for the next five years and renewable. The values of our association will focus on: enhancing our expertise, renewed commitment to awareness, education, work, and holistic attention to the subject. These prioritized axes of our project still seem relevant. However, it is also renewable because the world is evolving, new urgencies are emerging, and new stages in the coherence of actions already undertaken encourage us to go further in promoting autonomy, social inclusion, and the integration of people with disabilities in both professional and societal contexts. It also involves the consideration of cultural and sports values instilled in us by our societies. The positive aspect of disability must be highlighted, along with concerns and questions related to it. Joint development and seeking joint solutions between disabled and non-disabled individuals for a sustainable future must exist. We can no longer ignore the commitment of various associations, including ours, to societal responsibility. Disability is not inevitable, and we have become aware of this because a better society with the contribution of everyone is possible. Our concern is to break stereotypes and barriers related to our disability situation. To achieve this, we must be attentive to the external world. We are ready with dynamism and enthusiasm for these new challenges. This involves our own efforts as well; within Handispoc, we will continuously raise awareness on disability issues. The concept of disability employment will be our flagship, without forgetting sports, culture, the recycling of rolling equipment, and the futuristic multifunctional center that we wish to make available to people with disabilities in Cameroon. Therefore, we invite all forces that can help us accomplish this immense task. This associative project, developed by all members of our association, is now available for your consideration.
